Jerry is Director of the News & Media Research Centre at the University of Canberra, Australia. His research expertise is in mobile, social and online content and devices and their impact on people and systems. He has served as Chief Investigator, Co-Principal Investigator or Senior Researcher on six major research projects worth AUD 4.8 million in income with partners including UNESCO and Intel Corporation. He has delivered digital content creation programs in Australia, India, Indonesia, Nepal and the Solomon Islands. He has completed multiple projects for Commonwealth of Learning and in 2009 became a UNESCO Invited Expert on Mobile Media for Development.


His articles have appeared in Communication, Politics & Culture, Continuum, Educational Media International, Information Technology and People and Media International Australia. His chapters are published by Wiley-Blackwell and MIT Press.
